I'm not lost

I just haven't found my way to writing a blog post in awhile. Things have been crazy the past few days and will continue through the next week and a half. Last weekend my sister graduated from Purdue and bought a house. Congratulations Dr. Kim A. Campana!!! It just doesn't sound right without the middle initial. This coming weekend I will be magically whisked away to Jamaica for my sisters wedding. If there is only one thing I could change about the trip, I wish my girlfriend Molly could come. Due to a multitude of reasons, booking a year and a half ago and the crazy amount this craziness costs and the fact that she still has to teach her class next week, she couldn't join me. :(

I'll keep everyone posted with plenty of pics when I get back. Here are a few for now:

CGM

Yes, I officially started a continuous glucose monitoring system this weekend. Which means I have another piece of fancy, over-priced medical equipment to wear and potentially break. However, it does do a pretty good job of giving you a full days worth of blood sugar reading.

I've been impressed already by how it has started to help me track down my crazy nighttime blood sugars so I can start minimizing how many restless nights of fighting with my diabetes I have.

No worries, pictures to come as I finish my first round of use, I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Friday Throw Back!!!

Pogo Balls

I didn't have one but my friends did! My Mom knew my propensity to hurt myself as a child so it was probably a good thing I didn't have one. Can you believe there wasn't weight problems with kids in the 80's? Maybe if we had more incredible toys like this:

Help To Make A Difference!

Hi everyone in blogger world! As my blog name states I have type 1 diabetes (the kind where you take shots of insulin multiple times a day) I know there is a lot of confusion over type 1 vs. type 2. To be honest I didn't know for the longest time when people asked! lol

As most of you also know I love to ride my bikes! So for the second year I've decided to ride in the Tour de Cure to help raise money to fight this disease and hopefully, one day, find a cure! Until that time I will keep fighting the good fight! I've decided to not take the easy way out and do the 62 mile "Champion" course which takes you in and out of the Cuyahoga Valley, a.k.a multiple short but crazy steep quad and lung burning climbs over 62 miles. :) Fun!

Please check out my page at the link below and feel free to donate and help me in this fight. I know times are tough these days and you can donate as little as a dollar or up to whatever you would like. I raised over $800 last year so I made my goal $1000 this year. Please help me reach this goal and make my small little mark and victory against the fastest growing disease in America right now! Thank you in advance for your tax-deductible donation or at least for checking out my page!!! :)

Happy Riding!!!

Enough is enough!!!

I have a better chance of winning the Power Ball lottery than catching the swine flu. I love how the media can blow everything out of proportion. Dictators in Africa kill more people in one day than have been infected with the swine flu since we found it. How are the priorities of people so jacked. No, I'm not afraid and encourage everyone to not support the panic. They say you can keep yourself safe by washing your hands. Guess what, you should wash your damn hands anyway.

Pheew...enough of that, time for a bike ride!

Throwback Friday!

Remember these???

I do!!!! I found a ton of them in my parents attic last summer. :) Do you remember the guy who used to talk really fast with them? At the time I thought it was really cool but now as a marketer myself I realize it was just a gimmick, a marketing ploy. What does a really fast talking guy have to do with tiny cars? Absolutely nothing! Sheesh, kids!!!
